Ripening

Ripening shows a color shift from the hub of the fan to the edge, as one would see in grass greening in the spring. The piece is woven flat, then folded and attached to a foam core mounting board.

Tapestry fans are a fine contrast between the slow craft and long life of tapestry and the intentionally ephemeral nature of fans, whose finite lives are a valued aspect of these objects in their traditional cultures.
